Visiting CIFP Cislan – a media school in North Spain(Asturias)

I am still thrilled when I think about my visit to CIFP CISLAN in Spain. Thanks to Erasmus+ Job Shadowing from HLW FSB Weiz, I had the chance to explore this impressive media school, exchange ideas with dedicated teachers and students, and experience their enthusiasm firsthand. Special thanks go to Pelayo Canga Torre for his invaluable support during this incredible week. The hospitality I received was truly overwhelming.

My journey began with a flight to Madrid, followed by a train ride to Oviedo and Langreo. On March 10, I was warmly welcomed at CIFP CISLAN, starting my day with a comprehensive tour of the school. The facilities were fascinating, and conversations with colleagues provided valuable insights into how the school implements its diverse focus areas. One highlight was a half-day excursion to Oviedo, where I visited the stunning Museum of Fine Arts. The art collection, featuring works by El Greco, Goya, and Picasso, was breathtaking and offered me a glimpse into Spain’s rich cultural diversity. The following days were filled with intensive job shadowing. I attended various classes, including VDJ lessons by Verónica Trasancos, photography by Veronika González Maganto, 3D animation by Jesús Bayón, and audio production by Diego González. José Armayor introduced me to cinematic techniques, while Henrique García allowed me to observe students filming a promising sitcom. The semester presentation of video projects was particularly inspiring—showcasing the creativity and professionalism of young talents.

Networking was another key aspect of my visit. I advised a student on internship opportunities in Austria and participated in a tour of LABoral. This museum currently hosts “Máquinas Digitales“, an exhibition exploring European digital integration and technological adaptation—a project led by Ars Electronica. Additionally, my visit to RTPA (Radio Televisión del Principado de Asturias) was unforgettable. We toured the TV and radio station facilities while learning about its history as Asturias’ public broadcaster.

My time at CIFP CISLAN was immensely enriching. The school’s modern equipment and passionate staff left a lasting impression on me. The insights gained into various media fields have opened new perspectives for my own teaching. I am deeply grateful for the warm reception and look forward to incorporating these experiences into my lessons at HLW FSB Weiz.
